Digital Fluency Intensive 2020 Week Four - Data

 Data

Connecting with Manaiakalani: Dorothy

Sharing -

The power of the easy access to the internet and the home connection and has made sharing quick and easy for our tamariki. Sharing is the 'why' to our learning. It is what makes it purposeful and authentic and can happen to a variety of audiences all around the globe.

Why use blogger -

Dorothy talked about blogger being a consistence tool to teach children about how to use the internet and share in a safe environment. Teachers and parents can safely monitor this and teacher children about being kind, respectful and possible in a digital world.

Chalk ‘n Talk: Vicki - Google Forms -

I have created my first google form. I can see the benefits of this in a class for quizzes or to gain prior knowledge for assessment purposes.

I wonder if a voice can be added to the questions for the junior school so the question can be read out to the children.

I have often used Kahoot with juniors, however to get the multi-choice and other options for answer, you need the paid version.

Deep Dive: Maria - Maps

This is mymaps.google.com

This is new learning for me. I have often wondered how people plan routes e.t.c. This would be authentic learning for maths after or before a class trip somewhere! I can't wait to use this sometime in the classroom!

I enjoyed imputting data into the map and seeing what can be created by using a google form first to gather information.

Here is my map

Deep Dive: Vicki - Sheets
Google sheets

This was the most exciting learning for me. I love using sheets and could see their potential for data. I still have a lot to learn.
- The sigma ∑ tool was new to me.
- It is great to know the one stop place for all the formulas
- You can drag and copy a pattern by writing (Monday or January)
- The filter key is great
-    filters can be saved

The explore tool can used for explore.
Here is a google drawing of data pulled through from a google sheet.
-Download as a PNG to pull through links when updates happen.

I look forward to explore more from the sheets, maps and forms in the future!
